Day One: Activating Prior Knowledge, Building Knowledge (making connections, oral language focus)
  • discussion about perspective (sometimes just the back of girl is seen)
  • emotions: what might the cloud mean?
  • discussion: was there a time when you couldn't do something or were not good at it
Day Two: Five Finger Retell

Day Three: Vocabulary Development

  • cloud
  • chat
  • perhaps
  • noticed
  • attempts

Day Four: Higher Order Questioning (asking, discussing, reflecting - between the line questions)
  • perseverance: how do you learn a new skill?
  • problem solving: what else could you try?
  • creativity and imagination: how else might you...
  • friendship/caring: how did some of the friends show caring?
Extensions for Learning Centres or Opportunities to Engage with Writing:
  • collaborative art (allow all students to contribute)
  • sketching emotions
