- What other measurement tools could you use?
After:
- Do you think that a spoon or a shovel is a good tool for measuring? Why/why not?
- What did you notice about how they measured?
Extensions/Provocations (Small Group, Learning Centres, Whole Group, Transitions):
- Small Group: exploring measurement (measuring bodies, furniture etc) using nonstandard measurement tools (e.g., shovel, spoons, straws, sticks)
- Outdoor Play: tracing bodies with chalk and measuring using different nonstandard measurement tools (e.g. popsicle sticks, blocks)
- Sand: Using moon sand and different moulds (add in different measurement tools)
